Fast growing startup is recruiting high profile players from Google and Rackspace

ilos is a leader in the interactive video space. Customers leverage ilos to communicate visual information that is better shown via a screen recording or video message than written out with text. With the platform, users can record their screens or webcams, and then add quizzing, surveys, and comments right on the videos to ensure that the message is communicated successfully.

As the company is growing to serve more enterprise needs - from internal collaboration, customer communication, sales outreach, education, and training - they are bringing on leadership with more enterprise experience.

New members to the executive team include Ben Hubbard and Matt Heffernan:

Ben Hubbard, former RackSpace executive, now ilos Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Hubbard was the fifth employee of Webmail.us, where he ran operations until they sold in 2007 to Rackspace for a deal that became worth $50 million. After selling to Rackspace, Mr. Hubbard continued to work at Rackspace as the Director of Internal Operations for both Cloud and Product. After leaving Rackspace in 2015 to return to the startup scene, Mr. Hubbard ran operations for Austin-Based startup, Cratejoy, where in his two and a half years, he contributed to 7x growth in their number of paid subscriber. Mr. Hubbard joined ilos this June as the Chief Operating Officer to bring the company to the next level.

“I'm thrilled to join ilos for two simple reasons. First, our great product that customers love using, and of course the awesome team of dedicated and passionate people who love what they do.” Says ilos COO, Ben Hubbard. “With a great product and outstanding people, I couldn't wait to get started.”

Matt Heffernan, former Googler, and now ilos VP of Sales

Mr. Heffernan has been a part of several startup success stories and has an eye for spotting the next big thing. The first was leading enterprise sales for Wildfire, which Google acquired for $350 million. After staying with Google for two years he missed the excitement and energy of a startup. He found Evolv, a predictive analytics big data platform, which he helped scale to the point that they were acquired by the leader in Learning Management software- Cornerstone OnDemand.

“Overall I’ve been very impressed with the startup community here in the twin cities and I am very excited to now be a part of it.” Says ilos VP of Sales Matt Heffernan, “What drew me ultimately to ilos was the opportunity. It’s a perfect storm of technology, timing, and talent. The tech stack is amazing and people love it! The timing couldn’t be better; companies have realized that video is a more effective way to communicate so the market opportunity is massive. Lastly the team and culture is what solidified it for me. An impressive group of talented but humble people on a mission.”

Team expansion is not the only sign that ilos is growing. In the last few months, ilos signed large customers including Paylocity, G2 Crowd, and the entire University of Nebraska system, as well as many smaller and mid-sized companies. Customers consistently find that this no-frills video solution is exactly what they need to successfully leverage to video-based communication across their organization.
